7 . 07 . 2023 | Our region

Cordes-sur-Ciel is a must if you come to stay with us. Get your calves and good shoes ready, because it's a climb! (the little train option is also very, very practical!!). Just 10 km from Le Soleil Des Bastides campsite, it's renowned for its medieval beauty and breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside. Here's our advice

Stroll through the medieval city

Cordes-sur-Ciel is a perfectly preserved medieval town, with cobbled streets, stone houses and fortified gates. Founded in 1222 by the Count of Toulouse, Cordes-sur-Ciel was once an important trading center. Today, the town is a jewel of medieval architecture, attracting many visitors every year. We recommend that you "lose yourself" in the narrow streets that run perpendicular to the main thoroughfare - you'll be charmed at every turn!

Visit the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

The Cordes-sur-Ciel Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is housed in a former 19th-century mansion. It features a collection of modern and contemporary artworks by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Marc Chagall. The museum also has an art gallery and souvenir store.

Recharge your batteries in the Garden of Paradise

Le Jardin des Paradis is a magnificent hilltop garden in Cordes-sur-Ciel. It offers breathtaking views over the surrounding valley and features a wide variety of plants and flowers. Here you can take a leisurely stroll and admire the terraced gardens, ponds and fountains.

Discover the Maison du Grand Fauconnier

The Maison du Grand Fauconnier is a medieval house which today houses a museum dedicated to falconry. Here you can discover the history of falconry, the instruments used to hunt birds and free-flying birds of prey.

Everyone to the market!

The Cordes-sur-Ciel market is a traditional market held every Saturday morning. Here you can discover local products such as cheeses, fruit and vegetables, wines and charcuterie.
