A FEW KILOMETERS FROM THE CAMPSITE

Gaillac is a town located 15 minutes from Le Soleil des Bastides and Cahuzac-sur-Vère, and 25 minutes from Albi. In the town centre, you can discover :

  • The Saint-Michel abbey, built at the end of the 13th century. Today it houses the tourist office. The old cellars and galleries of this abbey have been transformed into a museum. This one presents the history of the city, as well as that of the vine and the wine.
  • The church of St. Peter with its imposing bell tower.
  • The château de Foucaud, built in the 17th century, is famous for its park.

You can also walk through the city along the urban path called "Follow the Rooster". Here you can learn about the history of the market gardeners. The walk lasts one hour.

DISCOVERING THE VINEYARDS OF GAILLAC

For wine lovers, discover the Gaillac wine a few minutes from our eco-responsible campsite near Gaillac.

The Gaillac region is renowned for its vineyards, surely one of the first in France.

This development of the Gaillac vineyards is reflected in the wine festival in August. It takes place in the Parc Foucaud. You can also visit the wine house located in the Saint-Michel abbey where you can taste wines.

At the cellars of Labastide-de-Lévis, a village located 15 minutes from Gaillac, you can visit the cellar in an original way, by following a step-by-step route. This goes from the vineyard garden to the tasting area, passing through the verification cellar and the bottling cellar.

In Broze, a village located 15 minutes from Gaillac, you can visit the wine museum. This is also a conservatory. It exhibits objects retracing the history of the work of the vine and the daily life of the wine growers.

Other walks starting from our campsite near Gaillac.

To get away from it all and for nature lovers, we advise you to visit the Martels garden in Giroussens. It is located 25 minutes from Gaillac. It is a floral park of 35 000 m² with more than 2500 varieties of plants. The site also includes a garden center where you can buy the plants you will have spotted during your visit to the garden.

In Montans, a village located 10 minutes from Gaillac, offers you an incursion into antiquity. You can visit the archaeosite with the presentation of objects found on the site and a park of 500 m² where you will find a Gallo-Roman potter's workshop.
