Cordes-sur-ciel is a bastide nestled on a rocky hill. A tough climb awaits you before the visit! But it is worth the detour for its viewpoint as well as for its museums and its numerous artists' studios.

BASTIDE

Cordes-sur-Ciel is a bastide town, located 20 minutes from Cahuzac-sur-Vère and the Soleil des Bastides campsite, and 30 minutes from Albi.

It was created in 1222. It is now classified as one of the Great Sites of the Midi-Pyrénées. In 2014, it was also elected favourite village of the French. In the heart of the bastide, you will find various museums.

For those with a sweet tooth, you can stop by the Yves Thuriès Sugar and Chocolate Museum. You can learn the techniques of chocolate making. The museum also offers workshops for children aged 6 to 14.

For art lovers, you can stop by the embroidery museum. As well as the museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. This one is located in the House of the Great Falconer, classified as a historical monument.

For history lovers, the Charles Portal museum offers to discover the architecture and history of Cordes. To prolong this discovery, the village organizes, in July, the medieval festivals of the Grand Fauconnier with falconry, music and dances.

STRINGS, A NATURE PARADISE

Notice to the nature lovers who will stay in our campsite near Cordes-sur-ciel.

For a nature getaway, don't forget to visit the Garden of Paradise. It is located on the old terraces of the city. It consists of several enclosures, mainly in oriental and medieval style. But don't forget to stroll through the banana plantation or the gourmet enclosure. You can also buy seeds or plant compositions in the shop.

Several hiking trails start from Cordes-sur-Ciel. To walk with young children, you can take the Boucle de la Rivière, where you will reach a lake. The "sentier des Patrimoines" will make you discover the bastides. And the Sentier du Téroundel allows you to be in the shade of the olive trees and to have a nice panorama on Cordes.

Animations and tastings a few minutes from our campsite near Cordes-sur-ciel.

Since 1971, every 14th July, the Grand Fauconnier's festivities have amazed young and old alike. Join the inhabitants dressed in medieval costumes. Processions, animations, it is a strong time of the city.

If you are hungry, stop at the Maison de Pays. Local products are sold there. Among these different products, you can buy the speciality of Cordes: the croquants. This cookie even has its own festival in June. It is made "Le plus Grand Croquant".

At 20 min from Cordes and 20 min from Cahuzac-sur-Vère, Vaour proposes, at the beginning of August, a festival of burlesque theater: the summer of Vaour. This festival takes place over 5 days. Marc Jolivet participated in the first years.
